The Village is the area that includes Oxford Street, the main thoroughfare of Paddington, where you’ll find many inviting shops and Sydney’s longest-running community markets.
Oxford Street is a one kilometre long shopping strip extending unbroken the length of Paddington, at least on the north side of the street. Offering a wide range of speciality shops and cafes, it is the plethora of clothing boutiques that has put Oxford Street on the tourist map.
Take a stroll on Oxford St and visit the Paddington Markets; open every Saturday since 1973 in the heritage-listed sandstone Paddington Uniting Church, completed in 1877, and has always been a place for artists and designers to mingle and sell their wares.
Near the markets, the tranquil Reservoir Gardens, an award-winning venue that has been completely transformed from its former life a d reopened to public in 2009.
Opposite to the Reservoir is the beautiful Juniper Hall, built in 1824 for Robert Cooper, a gin distiller. The mansion is now a function venue and home of the Moran Arts Foundation Collection and the annual Moran Prizes.
